Brad Pitt to act opposite zombies in ‘World War Z’

HollywoodNews.com: Brad Pitt will star and produce the feature adaptation of Max Brooks’ “World War Z.”

Tome is set during post-apocalyptic times and centers around a global infestation of flesh-eating zombies. A 2012 release is expected.

Variety had the story out of Comic-Con.

The author at the event also mentioned that two more of his tomes were optioned by Paramount: “The Zombie Survival Guide” and graphic novel “The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.”

Variety writes:

In “World War Z,” Brooks — son of Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft — tells the tale of a researcher (Pitt) for the U.N. Postwar Commission who interviews survivors of a decade-long war against zombies from all over the world in order to put together a post-mortem on the war, which destroyed every country around the globe. A script was penned by “Babylon 5” creator J. Michael Straczynski, and then rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan.

Pitt is currently shooting “Moneyball,” another book adaption for the big screen.
