“Tron” director tells Comic-Con original could be re-released in 3-D
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Exciting “Tron” news out of Comic-Con this afternoon. The original “Tron” will be coming back to theaters in conjunction with the December release of its sequel, “Tron: Legacy.” And according to director Joseph Kosinski, the original might be reformatted for 3-D.
“I think you can expect to see the original Tron in some pretty exciting formats very soon,” Kosinski told Cinema Blend.
I’ve gone on record as being opposed to post-production 3-D conversion. But so much of the original “Tron” was created on time-specific computer programs that the conversion might not be terrible. I know I’m going to want to see the first “Tron” before taking in the sequel, as I barely remember the plot and characters.
There should be even more news regarding the “Tron” sequel as Comic-Con continues, so stay tuned. We’ll post everything that we learn.
