“Megamind” Comic-Con footage makes its way online

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: The main thing we are hearing out of Comic-Con so far is that the crowds in San Diego are relentless and the lines are extremely long as rabid fans clamor for news and footage from anticipated projects like “The Avengers,” “Scott Pilgrim,” “The Expendables” and more.

The good news? If you couldn’t make it to the Con, and you are patient, the footage that screens before the gathered masses — allowing them to scream “First!” on Twitter — eventually makes its way to the Web.

For instance, Yahoo! Movies now has the “Megamind” footage that screened yesterday during a panel hosted by Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill. Essentially a 3-and-a-half minute trailer for the November animated comedy, the clip at least explains how this will not be a pale shade of “Despicable Me” (which focused on a villain as opposed to a heroic character), but instead looks to take its cues from Pixar’s “The Incredibles” or the underrated “Monsters vs. Aliens.”

Suffice it to say, this clip has piqued our interests in “Megamind.” Bring it on! The movie hits theaters on Nov. 5.
