Natalie Portman continues dark streak in ‘Black Swan’

HollywoodNews.com: Many forget, but Natalie Portman has a penchant for playing dark roles, specifically those who operate on the fringe of society.

Portman arrived on the scene as a child actress in Luc Besson’s 1994 actioner “The Professional” as an assassin. She earned a Golden Globe supporting actress win for her role as a stripper in Mike Nichols 2004 film “Closer.”

In Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming fall thriller “Black Swan,” she plays a ballerina weathering a breakdown.

“The character was very interesting to play, always challenging and surprising,” Natalie tells USA Today.

The “Black Swan” will be unspooling at the Venice Film Festival. Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder co-star.
