‘The Avengers’ join forces with fans at Comic-Con
HollywoodNews.com: How do you combust a crowd of comic book geeks?
Assemble the future cast of the 2012 film “The Avengers” on stage. And that’s exactly what happened yesterday at San Diego’s Comic-Con before 6,000 fans.
Footage was shown of the upcoming marvel films “Captain America” and “Thor,” respectively directed by Joe Johnston and Kenneth Branagh.
“Captain America” is a ‘40s period myth with Chris Evans as the title character and Huge Weaving as Red Skull. “Thor” follows a Norse hero played by Chris Hemsworth.
Both films, due out next summer from Paramount, lead up to “Avengers” following the “Iron Man” films as well as “The Incredible Hulk.”
After the footage rolled, Robert Downey Jr. called the upcoming cast members from “Avengers” on stage for a photo op including Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Hemsworth and Evans.
Joss Whedon will helm the film and exclaimed to the crowd, “I have had a dream all my life and it was not this good. I am going to blow it. I’m very nervous and need your love”
Variety as well as a number of other trade and fan sites had the news.
