Clay Aiken releases companion DVD ‘Tried and True Live’

By Greg Hernandez

HollywoodNews.com: Clay Aiken is currently on tour with his “American Idol” buddy Ruben Studdard (hard to believe that Ruben, not Clay, was the season 2 champ, no?).

But if you want to enjoy Clay all my himself, this new DVD “Clay Aiken: Tried and True Live,” should be a just have.
Live is the companion DVD of the release of Clay’s new CD and PBS special. It was taped at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts Center this past March 12 and features Clay singing classic standards including Mack The Knife, What Kind Of Fool Am I and Suspicious Minds.

I heard from a lot of Clay’s fans a few months back who objected to the fact that I described their favorite singer as an openly gay man because it doesn’t/shouldn’t matter.

I’ll forgive you for the previous comment and thank you for the great write-up on Tried & True. I just received my DVD today and as I was there in Raleigh for the taping, it seemed surreal to be watching it on my computer screen. I was too lazy to bother with the DVD player, TV etc. Next time, I definitely will.

It might be an idea to remind everyone that the PBS special will be airing all over the country although not all dates are set yet. Some are scheduled for this weekend so please watch for it in your area and pledge!

Even though I have a copy, I will pledge for a DVD when it comes to my area to help support PBS who supports artists who really do need to be seen to be appreciated.

And if I can say one more thing, run, don’t walk, to get tickets to the Timeless Tour with Clay and Ruben. I’ve seen clips and it is filled with great singing and great comedy. Even if you weren’t fans of either, I challenge you to go to a concert and walk away not wanting more.

Ruben and Clay are a riot! I saw what little YouTube of them out there from years ago and see a comedy duo in the making. Born to be singers, born to entertain. Can’t wait to have the DVD, was at the taping, professionally done, stunning vocals, awesome orchestra/band combo, a real classy concert. Thanks for the write up.

I just purchased the DVD of Clay’s “Tried & True”and just got thru watching. It was fantastic< I
didn't want it to end. This kind of music is definitely where Clay belongs. You could tell that He
was very comfortable doing this Music. I don't believe there is anyone in show business right
now, that can out-sing CLAY AIKEN. iF SO, i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE. pUT Him up against anyone singing these same songs and they could not touch Him. I can't wait to
see Him in concert. We are going to Biloxi on the 14th to see Him and Reuben , I know the show
will be awsome. The Tour's, I see have been extended on in to Feb, and March. Keep going
    Clay, you have our Blessings.

Thanks for the nice mention of Tired & True. I think the reason so many people objected to your comments on Clay being gay, is that it is only one aspect & far from important or NEWS. If Ruben came out with a new album – would you describe him as Openly BLACK, Openly Straight, or FAT? ( I bet not.)
