New Film “Red Riding Hood” Has Harry Potter/Twilight Connections

By Hanako M. Ricks Fans of both the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises will feel like they’ve run into some long-lost friends when the film “Red Riding Hood” is released next March. The film, which is described on IMDB as “set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl falls for an orphaned woodcutter, much to her family’s displeasure”, stars Amanda Seyfried and newcomer Shiloh Fernandez in the lead roles.

Harry Potter alums Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) and Julie Christie (Madame Rosmerta), Twilight star Billy Burke (Charlie Swan), Victoria Madsen (Candyman), Lukas Haas (Inception), and Michael Shanks (TV’s Stargate series, Smallville) round out the cast. The film is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed the first Twilight movie.

Some set photos have made their way online, and can be seen below.

Can I just say that Oldman looks hot in purple?

I have a strong feeling that Gary Oldman must’ve harboured a secret desire to be part of a ‘Twilight’ film, but his ‘Harry Potter’ bosses at WB (and his kids who are huge HP fans) would not have been impressed one bit (due to the rivalry between the two franchises). I suppose this is this is what he would come closest to being associated with the ‘Twilight’ franchise.
