‘Dragon Tattoo’ news: Browning out, Sweden in

HollywoodNews.com: Emily Browning of “Lemony Snicket” has been dropped off the list of candidates to play moody femme Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s reboot of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”

News comes from The Daily Beast via Collider.

This leaves Rooney Mara (“The Social Network”), Sarah Snook (“Sleeping Beauty”), Sophie Lowe (“Blame”), and Lea Seydoux (“Robin Hood”) in the running. The world awaits a decision. Coincidentally, Browning stars alongside Snook in “Sleeping Beauty,” a drama directed by newcomer Julia Leigh.

Collider also read from MTV news that Fincher plans to keep the film’s setting faithful to its Stockholm and Uppsala, Sweden locales.

Fincher quipped, “What, are you going to put it in Seattle? Seattle noir?”

“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is scheduled to bow on December 21, 2011.
