Guillermo del Toro, James Cameron might climb ‘Mountains’

HollywoodNews.com: If there’s a highly coveted director in Hollywood right now, it’s Guillermo del Toro.

Days after announcing he’ll develop and produce a revamped version of “The Haunted Mansion” for Disney, news arrives that he’s on track to direct a passion project of his entitled “At the Mountains of Madness.” And James “Avatar” Cameron is producing.

Many media outlets at Comic-Con last week originally published the incorrect news about del Toro: They believed he was directing “Haunted Mansion.” In fact, he never announced a directing project after departing “The Hobbit.”

Universal is looking to release “Madness.” Feature is an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s novella set in the Antarctica. EW reports that del Toro was scheduled to take on the project prior to “Hobbit.”
