Proposed New Theme Park in India Could Include “Harry Potter” Content

HollywoodNews.com: Rumors are circulating regarding a possible new theme park partnership between Universal and Reliance ADA Group of India. Reliance is in talks with Universal to build a $1.5 billion, 400-acre theme park and resort in India – possibly in the cities of Mumbai or New Delhi, according to a source who spoke to the Wall Street Journal.

Reliance ADA would have full ownership of the venture but would pay royalties and fees to Universale for the ability to use content from movies such as “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Spider-Man” and the “Harry Potter” franchise.

The park would follow similar layouts of other Universal parks in Los Angeles, Orlando, Fla., and Japan, with a variety of roller coasters and rides, shops with movie-related merchandise and nearby hotels.

This information should be treated as a rumor until confirmation has been given; neither Universal or Reliance have commented, according to the WSJ.
