Rob Lowe connected to Miramax deal

HollywoodNews.com: Rob Lowe is officially not an ‘80s brat packer any more – rather a burgeoning media mogul.

The actor confirmed that he’s involved with the Miramax deal. The former Disney label is being snapped up by Ronald Tutor, Colony Capital and others.

Lowe is participating in a media fund with Colony Chairman Tom Barrack. Miramax marks the fund’s first purchase.

The Hollywood Reporter had the scoop.

In a statement Friday, Lowe said: “The acquisition of a classic brand like Miramax is an exciting first step in my partnership with Tom Barrack and Colony Capital. This represents an exciting new chapter for me. And Tom and I could not have a better partner on our first deal together than Ron Tutor.”

Lowe is currently starring in the NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation.” Last fall he appeared in the feature comedy “The Invention of Lying.”
