Interactive “Scott Pilgrim” trailer puts fans in the game

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: A new trailer for Edgar Wright’s upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” hit the Web today, and there’s no better way to describe it then to just say, “It gets it.”

The interactive clip, which can be viewed below, is the perfect representation of Wright’s hypnotic vision. It has the 8-bit feel of a classic Atari video game (which also carries over Wright’s clever opening for his film involving Universal’s legendary logo). It boasts an intro from the director, interviews with the cast, and several hidden, interactive buttons that unlock exclusive trivia and more content.

It is the closest an online trailer has come to the DVD experience. In truth, it’s pretty amazing. You could spend hours just learning things about “Scott Pilgrim” from this interactive trailer. It’s so sick.

We’ll have plenty more on “Scott Pilgrim” next week, including a review (we’ve seen it, and it’s about as faithful to Bryan Lee O’Malley’s acclaimed graphic novels as possible). Until then, lose yourself in this ingenious trailer, and applaud Universal’s marketing team for coming up with this innovative, interactive trailer.
