Mary-Kate Olsen: “I would never wish my upbringing on anyone.”

HollywoodNews.com: Breaking her media silence for the first time since 2004, Mary-Kate Olsen looks back on her youth as a child actress with something like regret, saying, “I would never wish my upbringing on anyone,” but insists she “wouldn’t take it back for the world,” in a new cover story with Marie Claire magazine.

“I look at old photos of me, and I don’t feel connected to them at all,” she muses, calling her and her sister Ashley, who played Michelle Tanner together on “Full House” since infancy, “little monkey performers” as children.

Today, Mary-Kate, who plays a witch opposite Vanessa Hudgens in the upcoming film “Beastly” but has been designing clothes for over a decade, considers fashion her calling. “It’s kind of like a mask to hide behind. I still read scripts, and if something great comes a long, that’s great…but this is my day job.”
