Katy Perry song ‘Circle the Drain’ targets ex-boyfriend
HollywoodNews.com: A song on Katy Perry’s new album “Teenage Dream” bashes her ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy, who is the singer behind the summer hit single “Billionaire.”
In 2008, Perry and McCoy were an on and off item. They broke up after New Year’s 2009.
Page Six got a chance to hear Perry’s song “Circle the Drain” in which she jabs at McCoy:
“Thought I was the exception/ I could rewrite your addiction/ You could have been the greatest/ But you’d rather get wasted/ You fall asleep during foreplay/ ‘Cause the pills you take are more your forté/ I’m not sticking around to watch you go down/ Wanna be your lover/ Not your [bleep]ing mother.”
“You think you’re so rock and roll/ But you’re really just a joke/ Had the world in the palm of your hand/ But you [bleep]ing choked.”
In an interview with Billboard, Perry said that the song was akin to the femme rant song “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette.
McCoy, like Perry’s fiancé Russell Brand, is a reformed drug addict.
“Teenage Dream” hits stores on Aug. 24.
