“Blair Witch” director to tackle “Possession”

By Sean O’Connell Eduardo Sanchez doesn’t want to be a one-hit wonder … even if that hit was pretty huge.

Sanchez co-wrote and directed “The Blair Witch Project” in 1999, but didn’t crack the mainstream with follow-up features “ Altered” and “Seventh Moon.” He’ll reportedly try his hand at another spooky, demonic ghost story when he directs “Possession,” according to Variety.

The film, according to the piece, is about “the thin line between demonic possession and psychosis” and follows the possession of a young woman. Competition is getting tougher in the demonic possession marketplace, as Sanchez will be beaten to the punch by the upcoming “The Last Exorcism,” as well as a second “Paranormal Activity” picture in the works.

Still, I want to give the guy responsible for “Blair Witch” the benefit of the doubt. We’ll report more on “Possession” as we uncover details.
