Natalie Portman dances through Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” trailer
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Fox Searchlight released the first full trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” a drama set in the world of professional ballet starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis. It will open the Venice Film Festival, and will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival. You can see the clip in high definition here.
We’re paying close attention to “Black Swan” for its Oscar potential. Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” scored with the Academy, earning two nominations after his “Requiem for a Dream” earned one. It’s very possible “Black Swan” will continue the director’s streak of luck within the Academy, especially with an expanded Best Picture category.
The clip has the same grit as “Wrestler,” with some of the dreaminess of Aronofsky’s underrated “The Fountain.” Clint Mansell’s score also sounds pretty amazing.
“Black Swan” is on our must-see list at Toronto. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
