“Piranha 3D” makes its case for Best Picture consideration in viral clip

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Did “Piranha 3d” really kick-start 2010’s “For Your Consideration” awards campaign?

Yes. Kind of.

Click on over to “Funny or Die” for an amusing pitch by Adam Scott, Kelly Brook and “Hollywood treasure” Jerry O’Connell to members of the Academy on behalf of Alexandre Aja’s “Piranha” remake, which hits theaters Friday, Aug. 20.

In the clip, the cast pokes fun of the Oscars, the Golden Globes, Pixar’s awards dominance, “Inception,” 3-D technology, and their own film. They even hits more than a few targets.

If “Piranha” is half as funny as this tongue-in-cheek spoof clip, it should out-gross “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” this weekend.
