Glee’s Heather Morris on dancing and that other Britney

HollywoodNews.com: When Britney Spears tweets a picture of you, it’s safe to say you’re a big deal. But Heather Morris–who plays the deliciously dim-witted Brittany on “Glee”–plays it cool. ““I have a really good mother who taught me well,” she says simply.

When Morris was booted from “So You Think You Can Dance?” as an aspiring dancer in 2006, she knew that bigger and better things were on the horizon. “I thought, ‘OK, this is perfect. I’m going to go out to L.A. and I’m going to figure something else out.’” ‘Something else’, at first, was becoming a backup dancer, most notably for Beyonce on her Single Ladies tour–which wasn’t, surprisingly, as fun as it would seem.

“You’re underpaid. You’re underappreciated. You’re kind of just like the end of the stream,” says Morris. “As much enjoyment I got out of dancing, I felt like I didn’t get anything back. I knew there was more that would make me happier, which is exactly what I’m doing.”

“Glee”‘s phenomenal success hasn’t changed the atmosphere on set. According to Morris, “It’s exactly the same. That’s the coolest part. We walked on the set, and there was no difference than before. Because we’ve been together for so long and it started off without anybody knowing [about the show]. So it’s calming when we’re all together. When we get on to the sound stage, that’s our world. That’s our realm.”

Morris’ lips are sealed when it comes to the upcoming episode “Britney/Brittany”, which features her character in an expanded role and a cameo by the Princess of Pop herself. “I can’t say [which song I’m singing]. I’m not allowed. You want to be surprised. I know it. I love being surprised.”
