Shia LaBeouf confirms involvement in fifth “Indiana Jones”

By Sean O’Connell My sons are obsessed with Indiana Jones. They turn belts into whips. They hum John Willams’ recognizable score constantly. My oldest is always telling my youngest that he has to be “Boxer” as they reenact the fight scene from “Raiders.”

Want to know how badly they’ve got the fever? They even love “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

So they may like this news. Shia LaBeouf is quoted as saying he’ll be back for a fifth “Indiana Jones” adventure, playing Indy and Marion’s son, Mutt.

“They’re script writing right now,” LaBeouf said to ShowbizSpy [via ComingSoon]. “[I]t sounds crazy. It sounds really cool.”

Cooler than aliens and swinging monkeys, we hope. This isn’t t he first time we’ve heard rumors of a fifth “Indiana Jones.” And the fourth performed well at the box office, even if fans have stated (on Facebook, for instance) that they’d like to forget “Crystal Skull” happened.

To be honest, I think the first hour of “Skull” works fine. Yes, even the nuked fridge. The motorcycle chase around Indy’s campus works. The exposition flows. Then it gets silly. And sillier. And most silly when Shia swings like Tarzan. That’s unforgiveable.

But I’d be there for a fifth “Indiana Jones.” So would you. Just to see how it turned out. Spielberg knows this. Lucas does, as well. Let’s just hope they know how to pull one more great Indy adventure out of their dusty fedora.
