Quentin Tarantino to be “roasted” by Samuel L. Jackson, Eli Roth and more
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Quentin Tarantino loves to talk. For one night, though, the Oscar-nominated director will be forced to listen.
That’s because Tarantino has agreed to sit in the big chair and be “saluted” as part of the 2010 Friars Club Roast, which will be held on Friday, Oct. 1, at The New York Hilton.
“Pulp Fiction” and “Jackie Brown” star Samuel L. Jackson has been tapped to play “Roastmaster.” He’ll be joined by Kathy Griffin, Pam Grier, Neve Campbell, Michael Madsen, Eli Roth, Patricia Arquette, Rob Schneider, Uma Thurman, Harvey Weinstein, Sarah Silverman, Rosario Dawson, Bob Weinstein, Michelle Rodriguez and many more.
“Quentin Tarantino will join a small group of entertainers who have been brave enough to sit in the hot-seat and be roasted by their peers. Having seen ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Kill Bill,’ I can only pray that he understands that we only roast the ones we love,” said Friars Club Dean Freddie Roman.
Tarantino is in legendary company. Previous targets include Humphrey Bogart, WC Fields, Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson and Richard Pryor.
“Having known Quentin as long as I have now, there are many stories I’ve kept tucked away for a moment like this,” Jackson said.
No word yet if this roast will be televised or, at the very least, available for purchase at a later date.
