Bonnie Wright on fashion, ‘Harry Potter’ co-stars, and the end of an era
HollywoodNews.com: With the last of the “Harry Potter” film franchise installments wrapped this summer, Bonnie Wright will never play Ginny Weasley again–and she has mixed feelings about it. As she explains in a new interview, complete with a several page fashion spread, “Finishing was bizarre. It’s definitely a sense of loss that you feel, but there’s also a real empowerment in that this is a new chapter of my life and I’m going to work on things I really want to do.”
Which isn’t to say she didn’t enjoy every minute on the “Potter” set. “I couldn’t have asked for a better experience,” she says. “All the people I’ve worked with have been so inspirational that I couldn’t not want to continue in the film industry…we all relate to each other so much over such an indescribable experience.”
So what can possibly follow it? As Wright, 19, begins professional training in acting at the London College of Communications and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, she’s weighing her options wisely. “There was a sense of belonging with ‘Harry Potter’, a sense of security, but now I have to decide what I want to do. The next step I take has to be the right decision…just to be challenged is exciting. To make life as rich as you can and to enjoy my professional life and my personal life.”
Speaking of, she states that she and her rumoured fiance, fellow “Potter” actor Jamie Campbell Bower, are “incredibly” happy. “Through each others’ work, through each others’ drive and passion, you can keep yourself going when stuff doesn’t seem to be coming your way.”
Now that she’s become a fashion plate alongside co-star Emma Watson in the recent years, however, plenty in the way of designer dresses and modeling photo shoots certainly continue to come Bonnie’s way. “Fashion and acting go hand and hand,” she muses. “Fashion always has a theme and a story, references to culture and history, and so has acting. The product is different, but they’re still similar.”
Bonnie can be seen modeling several theatrical pieces in a new ASOS spread.
