Scarlett Johansson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt circling Diablo Cody’s zombie comedy?
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: After “Jennifer’s Body,” I’m not sure I’m excited to hear the name “Diablo Cody” associated with a horror script … and yet, this news is intriguing.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson are “loosely” attached to “Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament,” according to Pajiba. Cody, who rose to prominence (and won an Oscar) for penning “Juno,” would produce the film, while Geoff LaTulippe would handle scripting duties. (He’s credited with this weekend’s Drew Barrymore-Justin Long “laugher” “Going the Distance.”)
Pajiba elaborates that the romantic comedy follows “a dead man who discovers himself newly re-animated as a mid-aged, decaying zombie who must figure out what it means to live as an Un-dead in a society that denies his kind basic rights.”
Snarky!
Still, I’d watch Gordon-Levitt in anything – even a zombie rom-com – and Johannson’s as talented as she is beautiful, so if “Breathers” comes to pass, I believe these two could breathe more than enough life into it.
