Katy Perry and Russell Brand fell in love at the 2008 VMAs
HollywoodNews.com: Many people think that Katy Perry and Russell Brand fell in love when they were filming “Get Him to the Greek,” but their relationship began quite some time before then. In a new episode of “The VMAs: Revealed,” we see exactly how the two first met.
VMA producer Jane Mun shares that filmmaker Nick Stoller set up a shoot at the 2008 VMAs to get cameos for his Alduos Show spinoff. She said, “They wanted hot young female artists to be part of the movie. So, Christina Aguilera was performing, they got her, Pink and Katy Perry,” reports MTV. Perry and Brand then performed a kissing scene and the rest is history.
At the time, Perry was dating Travie McCoy, but when she showed up at the 2009 VMA awards single, the two were ready to take it to the next level. Now a year later, the two are engaged and are set to get married later this year. Perry tweeted following the news of her 2010 nominations writing, “I luv the VMA’s, u never know what u’ll get from em! I got a hubby.”
