Pixar offers fans a look at “Newt” … which no longer is in development at the studio

Hollywoodnews.com: Want to see pictures from the Pixar film that never came to pass?

The animation giant released concept art for “Newt,” a movie it announced but didn’t/couldn’t/wouldn’t follow up on. Once, “Newt” was going to be Pixar’s Summer 2012 release. It was going to tell the story of the world’s last two blue-footed newts who, after scientists pair them together for mating, quickly find that they don’t exactly get along.

Right now, the project is in limbo, labeled as “no longer in development” at Pixar. But over on the studio’s Facebook page, they have a ton of unreleased concept art pieces for you to peruse. Click here to check them out.

With “Newt” off the plate, Pixar next will move on to “Cars 2” (out June 24, 2011), as well as “Brave” and “Monsters, Inc. 2” in 2012.
