Sneak Peek at Oprah Interview with J.K. Rowling

By Hanako M. Ricks

HollywoodNews.com: “Oprah says it’s one of the most fascinating interviews she’s ever done. This is a direct quote from the Oprah.com website, referring to the exclusive interview she conducted with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

The interview, which will air on The Oprah Show on Friday, October 1, was filmed on location in Scotland. Some details have been made available about the interview, including statements from Rowling regarding her very difficult struggle with depression following the demise of her first marriage:

She rarely gives interviews, but two years ago told a student newspaper the end of her first marriage to Jorge Arantes left her suicidal.

Confessing she went to her GP with serious depression, she said: “We’re talking suicidal thoughts here, we’re not talking about, ‘I’m a little bit miserable’.”

It was not too long after that time that Rowling would pen the novel that would turn her from a welfare-dependent single mother into one of the richest (and most inspiring, according to Forbes) women in the world.

The J.K. Rowling interview will air on The Oprah Show this Friday, October 1. You can find your local listings at this link.

I am really looking forward to watching this interview, especially since J. K. Rowling gave her fans so much fascinating information about her life and Harry Potter’s fictional universe the last time she did an exclusive interview on American television. Many of her fans are hoping to find out what Jo is going to publish next. Could it be the long-awaited encyclopedia of Harry’s world?
