Tom Cruise’s fourth “Mission” lures a “Dragon” villain to the mix

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: A while back, we heard rumors that “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” star Noomi Rapace was circling a role in a major Hollywood blockbuster, and pundits predicted it might be Brad Bird’s “Mission: Impossible IV,” with Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Paula Patton and Jeremy Renner.

It isn’t. Rapace, instead, was announced as an addition to the cast of “Sherlock Holmes 2,” with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. But in a strange and coincidental stroke of fate, Rapace’s “Dragon” co-star, Michael Nyqvist, now has been confirmed as the chief villain in “Impossible.” Man, that Swedish thriller makes for a sizzling audition reel.

According to a report in the Hollywood Reporter, Nyqvist may be playing one of a few enemies to Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. The sequel currently is scouting locations in Vancouver, Prague and Dubai.

Paramount is scheduled to release the fourth “Mission” on Dec. 16, 2011.
