Emily Blunt hops into ‘Looper’

HollywoodNews.com: After taking a role in the upcoming sci-fi action film “The Adjustment Bureau,” Emily Blunt continues to crave the genre.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, the British actress is set to star opposite Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “Looper,” a film that sounds a lot like “The Terminator.” Feature is being helmed by writer-director Rian Johnson. Blunt will play the mother of a boy who becomes an integral part of an assassin’s life.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the story as follows:

The complicated plot involves a killer (Gordon-Levitt) who works for the mob of the future. He, along with other so-called Loopers, dispose of people that are sent from the future. When he recognizes one victim as his future self (Willis), he hesitates, letting the man escape.

Now, in order to save his immediate future, the man needs to track down and kill his future self, while his future self is trying to find and kill a young boy who is the key to his survival in the future.

New Orleans, which continues to be the go-to place for Hollywood films (“Green Lantern” was recently shot there), will be home for “Looper.” Cameras roll during the first quarter of 2011.

Blunt’s next films include British comedy shoot-em up “Wild Target” and Fox’s 3D adventure laffer “Gulliver’s Travel” with Jack Black.
