Michael Jackson’s lawyer: Michael “truly believed he could heal the world”
HollywoodNews.com: Michael Jackson’s lawyer is still defending his client even though he is in the grave, saying the singer was a “kind-hearted artist” who “truly believed he could heal the world”.
Tom Mesereau, who successfully represented the King of Pop in a 2005 sexual molestation trial, told CNN that he thinks Jackson was exploited and taken advantage of.
He said: “He [Jackson] was a very kind-hearted, gentle, sensitive, intuitive artist who truly believed he could heal the world in some positive way. He attracted one profiteer after another. There was loneliness, isolation, distrust. The cruellest thing of all was taking children and turning children against him.”
Mesereau was asked to represent the music legend by his family after being recommended by OJ Simpson’s former lawyer, Johnnie Cochran.
The 60-year-old lawyer revealed that he always believed he would win the case. He said: “I thought we were winning all along.”
Mesereau also criticised media coverage of the Jackson trial, saying: “Mountains were made out of molehills. “The case was characterised by crisis, shock and confusion.”
