Sandra Bullock might float ‘Gravity’

HollywoodNews.com: The new hot role for actresses around Hollywood after David Fincher’s “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”? The femme astronaut in Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity.”

There’s been a line of contenders for the part: Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman and Angelina Jolie. Jolie and Portman have passed. But the new chick in negotiations? Sandra Bullock. The actress is also in talks for the Tom Hanks title “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.”

Why has this search gone on for so long? Warner Bros. needs an actress who can open this $80 million film and believe their Oscar-winning “Blind Side” gal is the one.

“Gravity” will be in 3D and per Variety, “revolves around two astronauts fighting to survive on a remote space station after satellite debris wipes out the rest of the crew and destroys most of the station.”

Cuaron wrote “Gravity” with his son, Jonas. Apparently, the only actor who has been confirmed all along has been Robert Downey, Jr. whose character has a cameo in the film.

David Heyman of “Harry Potter” fame is producing “Gravity.”
