HollywoodNews.com: Lythgoe Family Productions has announced that actor Freddie Stroma will headline a musical production of “Cinderella: A Modern Musical Extravaganza” next month in North Hollywood. The production will begin on November 27 with a fundraiser for LA’s Best, which is an afterschool program which has been recognized as one of the nation’s best. The production will run at the historic El Portal Theatre from November 27 – December 19.
This version of Cinderella is being described as a traditional London “panto”, which is defined as traditional British winter musical comedy theater. It is usually based on well-known fairy and folk tales, and is typically performed around the Christmas holidays. This particular production will feature music from Kelly Clarkston, Michael Buble and Jennifer Lopez, among others. The cast were chosen – “American Idol” style – by a panel of celebrity judges, which included former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi.
Stroma is probably best known to movie audiences as Cormac McLaggen, the Hogwarts student and Quidditch player who develops a crush on Hermione in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He will reprise the role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
