Dwayne Johnson steps on gas in second “Faster” trailer

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: According to the “True Grit” trailer, Joel and Ethan Coen are delivering retribution this Christmas. Now, by the looks of the latest “Faster” trailer, Dwayne Johnson is serving up vengeance for Thanksgiving.

I’m sensing a theme.

Under the tagline “Slow Justice is No Justice,” George Tillman Jr.’s “Faster” stars Johnson as a laser-focused bruiser going after the men who murdered his brother. A scruffy Billy Bob Thornton is the official tasked with stopping him. Maggie Grace of “Lost” has been cast as the eye-candy, though she’ll have to compete with some sleek muscle cars and a bevy of massive hand cannons.

The latest trailer has been posted here.

It’s refreshing to see Johnson in what looks to be a stripped-down, balls-out action flick after his foray into family films like “Tooth Fairy” and “The Game Plan.” The actor has an intensity you can’t teach, and it often meshes well with his natural charisma. “Faster” looks like it could be “Death Wish” on four wheels, which sounds like a win for audience members.

The film opens on Nov. 24.
