Amy Adams to play music, light the lights with the Muppets

HollywoodNews.com: Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are going toe-to-toe with the Muppets in their new movie.

The stars join Jason Segal who has already been cast in the lead. Segal and Nicholas Stoller of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” fame were leaned on to revamp the Muppet movie franchise which has been rusty with its sense of humor since Jim Henson passed away. Duo are handling the script while James Bobin directs.

The film will go before the cameras in Los Angeles in November.

Story follows the Muppets who reunite and stage a show in order to save a movie studio.

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Adams will play Segel’s girlfriend who lends a hand in uniting the famed puppets.

Cooper will play the greedy foe who wants the studio property so that he can tap the ground for oil. Jones will portray an ABC TV executive.

In recent months, Henson Co. has taken to the internet to revamp the Muppets for a new generation with a series of hysterical viral videos that hark back to their sense of humor.
