Johnny Depp ironing his tuxedo for ‘Thin Man’ reboot

HollywoodNews.com: Johnny Depp loves his “Pirates of the Caribbean 4” director Rob Marshall so much, he wants the guy to direct him in a reboot of “The Thin Man.”

“The Thin Man” was originally based on a novel by Dashiell Hammett about Nick Charles, a detective who gave up his career to become a socialite, trophy husband. The 1934 book spawned a six film series from MGM, an NBC ‘50s TV series and a failed ‘90s Broadway musical.

Depp would produce the film through his Infinitum Nihil film label at Warner Bros., however there’s no script yet.

Currently, per Vulture, Marshall plans to meet with Universal and producer Marc Platt to talk about a big-screen version of the musical “Wicked,” which actually does have a script.

Marshall’s last film “Nine” bombed at the box office with a worldwide take of $53 million. The film was perceived as a potential awards contender last year in the wake of the director’s best picture win for another Broadway musical adaptation “Chicago.”
