Darren Aronofsky assembles ‘Machine Man’
HollywoodNews.com: The speculation is over. Darren Aronofsky, hot off “Black Swan,” will be directing “Machine Man” for Mandalay Pictures.
Film is a pop thriller based on an Australian online story by Max Berry. Adaptation of the serialized story, per Variety, will be written by Mark Heyman who penned “Black Swan.” Mandalay acquired the story last year.
“Machine Man” according to the trade, follows a “gadget geek and engineer working at a forward-thinking tech firm decides to systematically replace his weaker fleshy parts with high-end titanium performance upgrades of his own design. But he isn’t the only one with plans for his superior parts.”
A unique aspect of the online serial has been that readers’ suggestions have been incorporated into its yarn. The book of “Machine Man” will be released next spring.
Despite Aronofsky’s commitment to “Machine Man,” he’s still a contender to helm Fox’s “Wolverine” follow-up.
Mandalay has a first look deal at Universal.
