Awards Season Roundup: Will Oscar “Love” Tilda Swinton?

There’s a lot of chatter out there around Tilda Swinton’s “I Am Love” performance. Will it generate enough heat?

Jeff Bridges will host “Saturday Night Live” in December … sandwiched between the release of “Tron” and “True Grit.” Synergy!

In writing about the Hollywood Film Awards, held Monday at the Beverly Hilton, Pete Hammond touches on “Winter’s Bone,” “Rabbit Hole,” “The Kids Are All Right” and “127 Hours,” and where they stand in the Oscar race.

Sony Pictures Classics, meanwhile, is pushing “Animal Kingdom” into the awards race, putting screeners in the hands of critics and guild members. If the Oscars were held in Australia, “Kingdom” would wipe the floor with the competition. The film was just nominated for 18 Australian Film Institute Awards, including eight nominations in the acting categories, alone. It’s an Aussie juggernaut.
