Nicolas Cage’s paycheck is just one budget cut on ‘Ghost Rider 2′
HollywoodNews.com: Turns out “Ghost Rider” has to buy a cheaper motorcycle.
It was reported today that “Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance,” the sequel to the 2007 Marvel comic book film, has had its budget cut from $135 million to $75 million.
This is odd considering that A.) The sequel continues to star Nicolas Cage and B.) The first installment was an uber success making $229 million off a $110 million budget.
In addition, “Ghost Rider” was a big Presidents’ Day holiday opener, pulling in $52 million over four days.
“Crank” duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are directing the superhero film in 3D per the Wrap. Cage is also taking a pay cut, reducing his check from $12 million to $7 million.
The follow-up, to be released on February 17, 2012 stars Ciaran Hinds, Violante Placido, Idris Elba, Johnny Whitworth and Christopher Lambert.
