Nikki Reed, Hayden Panettiere set to kill in ‘Downers Grove’

HollywoodNews.com: “Twilight” actress Nikki Reed and NBC “Heroes” starlet Hayden Panettiere are going to be best-ies.

The actresses will be starring in “Downers Grove,” a high school thriller adapted by cult scribe Bret Easton Ellis from Michael Hornberg’s tome. Rebecca De Mornay will also star.

“Prom Night” helmer Nelson McCormick is on board to direct. The project was launched at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, CA. The Hollywood Reporter had the news.

The trade describes the plot as follows: “The movie will be set in a high school in the Chicago suburb where every year, one senior dies a bizarre death before the end of the school year. Panettiere’s character fears that she’s the next victim.”

The film is being independently produced by Oren Segal of Media Talent Group, Chiara Trento of Bystander Films and Jason Dubin of Mangrove Media. Myriad Pictures is selling the film’s overseas rights.
