Martha Stewart is the doGOODER of the week

Situated within Mount Sinai Hospital but with its own entrance, the 7,800 square-foot center launched two years later in 2007, bringing together doctors of various specialties under one roof to care for patients 65 and older, including Stewart’s mother.

Today, US News and World Report “Best Hospitals” ranks the Martha Stewart Center for Living the #1 geriatrics program in the nation. It enhances the public perception of aging by providing patients and their caregivers with programs and resources appropriate to their needs including medical care, healthy living activities, educational programs, caregiver support and community referrals.

In addition to her commitment to providing healthier living with age, Stewart is an avid animal lover and has appeared on behalf of animals in PETA videos and supports Dogs Deserve Better, to keep dogs off chains. She has lent her support to anti-hunger campaigns including Heifer International and Five and Alive, and also runs a contest each year, Dreamers into Doers, to honor women who have turned their passion into a business or a philanthropic venture.
