Angelina Jolie’s Bosnian drama begins shooting in Sarajevo

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: We’ve been tracking this story for a few months, so it’s interesting to report that Angelina Jolie’s crew finally is about to film the first scenes for the actress’s Bosnian drama in Sarajevo.

This comes after Bosnian officials tried, unsuccessfully, to block Jolie from filming her directorial debut in the country because they objected to material in the script. Details about the story are being kept under wraps, though Jolie’s film reportedly involves a romance between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet during the Bosnian conflict of the early to mid-90s. Jolie will direct, but will not star.

And according to reports, she won’t even really director the Sarajevo scenes. Jolie has assigned the task to an assistant director as she supervises the bulk of the shooting in nearby Hungary.

The as-yet-untitled picture is due in theaters in 2011.
