Kevin Smith releases “Red State” poster, raises charitable funds

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Kevin Smith continues to use Twitter to promote his next picture, “Red State,” and this time he did it for a very good cause.

Smith, who posts at @ThatKevinSmith, told his followers this afternoon that he’d release a new “Red State” poster if they pledged $1000 to The Wayne Foundation in less than 30 minutes. It happened, and Smith graciously released the poster you see below.

At Smith’s request, we’re also including a link allowing his fans and our readers to visit the site and learn more about The Wayne Foundation.

According to the group’s mission statement, they “provide young women who have fallen victim to commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking with a means of leaving the sex industry for good.”

It’s a noble effort by Smith, one that rewards both his fans, and those in need.

Smith’s “Red State” will make its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month.
