Johnny Depp’s role was written for Hugh Jackman

HollywoodNews.com: Apparently Johnny Depp wasn’t the actor in mind when the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Captain Jack Sparrow character was created.

The screenwriter of the first film, Stuart Beattie, reportedly had Hugh Jackman in mind when he wrote the script, states Digital Spy (via Fox News). He even named the character after Jackman, but Disney wasn’t on board.

It seems Disney was reportedly unsure as to whether or not Jackman was a big enough name to carry this film.

Do you think Hugh Jackman would have been good in the role?
