Will Ferrell, Zack Galifianakis political comedy picks up studio distribution

By Sean O’Connell Will Ferrell is about to toss his hat into the political ring.

That’s not a joke, though the “Anchorman” star certainly hopes audiences find it funny. Ferrell will appear with Zach Galifianakis in an untitled political comedy about rival candidates. Last night, Warner Bros. won the right to distribute the comedy, which they’ll hope to do in 2012 to coincide with the next presidential election, Reuters reports.

Two writers with deep Ferrell connections have fashioned this script. Chris Henchy has worked on Funny Or Die and most recently co-wrote “Land of the Lost” and “The Other Guys.” He’ll collaborate with Shawn Harwell, a writer on the HBO comedy “Eastbound & Down,” which Ferrell produces.
