Jessica Biel has a date for “New Year’s Eve”

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: “Valentine’s Day” veteran Jessica Biel reportedly is following director Garry Marshall to his next holiday-themed romance comedy.

This one will be set on New Year’s Eve, and will switch coasts to follow a group of intersecting couples in New York City. Biel is the latest shiny celebrity to join Marshall’s ensemble, though since this isn’t a sequel, she will be playing a different character from her “Valentine’s” businesswoman.

According to EW.com, “New Year’s Eve” already has invited Jake Gyllenhaal, Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro, Lea Michele, Hilary Swank, and Michelle Pfeifer to its party. THR adds that “Modern Family” beauty Sofia Vergara also is in negotiations to join the cast. Seriously, can “Eve” get any better looking?

“Valentine’s Day” scripter Karen Fugate will return to write the screenplay. Marshall is eyeing a Dec. 9, 2011 release date.
