Justin Bieber tops twitter people; trumped by oil spill

HollywoodNews.com: Justin Bieber has toppled Youtube and now the teen superstar can add twitter to his domain of reign. Bieber recently came out on top among the ‘people’ category, but still fell short behind other international topics.

Not to fret, 2010 was a big year for news and to top everyone else in twitter stats is no easy feat. Since no one thought it would be possible, what actually did beat out J-Beebs in the twitter beatdown? For one, the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico topped all twitter appearances and following soon after were numerous references to the FIFA world cup, which took place this year.

Even South Africa’s massive contribution to world noise pollution, the vuvuzela, beat out the pop star, but it all seems understandable given the increasingly international presence of twitter. New technologies also toppled the young Bieber, with both the Apple iPad and Google Droid beating him out as well, according to The Wall Street Journal Blog.
