Oprah Winfrey is the “Hollywood TV Star of the Week”
HollywoodNews.com: Oprah Winfrey is by far one of the most influential people in the world. Anything that is approved by Oprah is guaranteed to be a success, but that’s not all the talk show host has going for her.
Over the years she has landed interviews with some of the biggest stars, including her famed interview with Michael Jackson in 1993, which became the fourth most watched event in American television history. In 1985 she was nominated for an Academy Award for her role as Sofia in Steven Spielberg’s “The Color Purple,” and most recently provided the voice for the character of Eudora in Disney’s animated feature film, “The Princess and the Frog.” Winfrey has co-authored five books and still remains a huge part of the media with two magazines, and a website that averages over 70 million page views per month.
Not only has she been named the most charitable celebrity on the Giving Back Fund’s list, giving over $41,000,000 this year, but this is her third time ranking at the top of it. When she’s not doing her daytime talk show, she also heads her two charities, the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, and the Oprah Angel Network, whose mission is to help those in need worldwide.
Just last week Winfrey was honored at the Kennedy Center Awards alongside Paul McCartney, which was hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle. The two were honored not only for their multitude of talents, but for their ability to bring people together.
During her recent stay in Australia to film her last two episodes, the Australians made sure to give her a warm welcome and donned a large “O” on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and renamed the Sydney Opera House temporarily to be called the Sydney “Oprah” House, making it very clear that everyone all over the world has officially embraced Winfrey and her brand.
In addition, it was just announced today that she will present at the 83rd Academy Awards, which will take place on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre. As Winfrey looks towards the future with the launching of her very own Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), she has already gotten Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am to write a song for her new nationwide theater campaign. With bright horizons ahead for Winfrey and all of her endeavors, we are proud to announce that Oprah Winfrey is the “Hollywood TV Star of the Week.”
