“Iron Man” franchise to move on without Jon Favreau?

By Sean O’Connell Would you want to see an “Iron Man” movie without Jon Favreau at the helm?

Because according to Vulture, that’s exactly what we’re in store for come 2013. Inside sources have told the Web site that Favreau just told Marvel he would not be back for a third “Iron Man,” though the reasons were unclear. The director’s escalating price tag was mentioned. The more hits Favreau churns out, the more he is expected to command.

But deeper problems with the Marvel’s cinematic world were hinted at by Favreau in an MTV interview when the filmmaker suggested that the story for “Iron Man 3” — which theoretically would take place after “Thor,” “Captain America” and “The Avengers” – was up in the air.

“This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys,” Favreau said.

Right now, “Iron Man 3” is scheduled for a May 13, 2013 release. And the hunt for Favreau’s replacement, apparently, starts now.
