VH1, BFCA offering honorary membership to contest winner
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: You’ve no doubt heard the phrase, “Everyone’s a critic.” Today, we’re one step closer to that being true.
In anticipation of the upcoming 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on VH1 this January, VH1.com has launched the VH1 Quick Critic Contest. Users who submit their very own short film review will be entered into a contest for a chance to win a one year honorary membership to Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA).
As a member of the BFCA, I can only imagine that the “prize” is access to year-end awards screeners of films that are in Oscar and CCMA contention. This year, BFCA members received screeners of such films as “The Social Network,” “127 Hours,” “Black Swan,” “True Grit,” “The Fighter” and more.

Once on the site, choose a movie to review and write a short review of 200 characters or less! Please note, in order to submit and enter contest, users must agree to Facebook Connect. Once the review is posted, it will automatically post to the user’s Facebook profile with a link to vote on the review. It’s easy! Also, users can submit reviews on multiple movies!
So, want to share your point-of-view? Get started today!
The contest ends on January 14, 2011. The review with the most “votes” at the end of the contest period wins the grand prize, which includes the following:
• One year of free movie rentals from Red Box
• One year honorary membership to Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA)*
• Trip for two to Hollywood to attend the 2012 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards
Also, weekly winners will be chosen (reviews that have most votes at end of each week) to receive a Blu Ray player!
*BFCA’s honorary membership entitles winner to the following: Inclusion in BFCA member directory – thereby they will be invited to special screenings and events if they live in major market, promotional copies of all films under consideration for CCMA’s, ability to vote on CCMA nominees and winners. Tickets to CCMAs in 2012. (VH1 will pay for travel for winner and guest)
The CCMAs will be televised on VH1 on Jan. 14, at 9 p.m., so tune in and see who won.
