Justin Bieber in the running for an Oscar Justin Bieber’s new film, Never Say Never hasn’t come out quite yet, but the song of the same name could upstage the film come Oscar time. Justin Bieber’s single, “Never Say Never,” an original track from The Karate Kid featuring Jaden Smith is in the running for a ‘Best Original Song’ nomination for the Academy Awards.

While Bieber is up against seasoned veterans and hot blooded newcomers alike, an Oscar nod could boost the teen singer’s profile into a different stratosphere. Bieber is up against a wide variety of compeition for the chance to be an Oscar nominee. Other artists and songs include: Cher’s “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” (from Burlesque), John Legend’s Shine (from Waiting for ‘Superman’), Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Coming Home” (from Country Strong) and Oscar veteran Randy Newman’s “We Belong Together” (from Toy Story 3)
