“Black Swan” producers taking battle to court

By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Ho, ho, ho! Here’s a lawsuit.

Now that Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” is a hit, producers have begun fighting behind the scenes to claim credit and recoup possible financial losses. In this case, producer Rick Schwartz – who receives an executive producer’s credit on the film according to IMDB – is filing a suit against Aaron Kaufman accusing him of “breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and misappropriation of corporate opportunity.” Reuters reports that the lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court.

“Among other things, Kaufman misrepresented his knowledge, skill and experience (and) pretended to be knowledgeable about the financing of motion pictures when he was not,” the suit states.

Kaufman denies any wrongdoing, and plans to countersue for libel.

As the two sides bicker, “Black Swan” continues to perform well at the box office and collect multiple awards nominations from key critics groups.
