Justin Timberlake maybe collecting his first Oscar nomination for his turn in “Social Network”
By Sean O’Connell
Hollywoodnews.com: Justin Timberlake’s character in “The Social Network” didn’t go to Harvard. In fact, Internet entrepreneur Sean Parker, whom Timberlake plays, might be the only egghead on screen not to have a direct tie back to the prestigious institute of higher education.
But that’s all about to change.
Timberlake now has a connection to Harvard because he received Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals Man of the Year, an annual award that commemorates performers who have made “lasting and impressive contribution[s] to the world of entertainment.”
Timberlake is joined by Anne Hathaway, who was chosen as the female recipient of this year’s award (the Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals Man of the Year and Female of the Year awards were bestowed last February 2010).
Speaking at a press conference to accept the award, Timberlake – who was joined by his parents and girlfriend Jessica Biel – said, “Secretly, I always wanted to go to college and I didn’t get the chance to do that. … I’m an artist first, so I’ll continue to follow the inspiration. That means movies, TV and writing [songs] for other people.”
And maybe collecting his first Oscar nomination for his turn in “Social Network,” which continues to burn through awards charts leading up to the Academy Award nominations.
